This piece was created by utilizing remnant wooden quoin medallions from our house, combined with other woods in an emblematic structure. Due to the nature of our current quarantine situation, I am using up whatever materials we have on hand. This work also blurs the distinction between art, artifact and craft. The carving at the top was inspired by WWI era dazzling camouflage, which was meant to misdirect and confuse the enemy in following ships. I have carved out around the design, simulating a woodcut, though no print is made from it. All of this work is synthesized and framed using leftover wood from house projects.
