This series of works explores a variety of formal processes informed by image-text associations in the initial prompts. The inspiration was a combination of map references, sketches from a road trip and landscape design in the backyard. The individual elements are worked to such a degree that they may appear as leftovers from a previous life, function or section from a larger piece. There is no specific literal imagery to allow the work to be reminiscent of a variety of sources (per the written prompts). Individually, each element will have its own visual language: compositional arrangement, color palette, process, techniques, etc. The unifying aspect will be a consistent scale and repetition of both landscape and portrait compositional orientations, as well some connection with coloration, texture and processes. Collectively, the works can expand on how certain words in connection with visual forms create a dialogue for exploration and meaning. The hope is that creative persons, literary and visual, can appreciate the duality and integration that both forms of art can have on the audience.
